McDonald’s Unveils New Restaurant Prototype in La Feria

The next time consumers place an order at the new McDonald’s Restaurant in La Feria, they can choose technology over tradition.
The national chain, known as one of the world’s largest fast food places, is retrofitting all its restaurants to go in par with today’s technological innovations.
A touch screen is one of a number of changes the La Feria McDonald’s now has after it closed its doors for a renovation project that lasted about seven weeks to complete.
Hector De La Garza, restaurant manager and new Chamber of commerce member, said the new look is part of a nationwide project to be in place at all the businesses by early 2022.
“We are one of three in the Rio Grande Valley right now,” he said, referring to the La Feria McDonald’s. ”This is an example of how each and every restaurant will look.”
The other two are in Mission and Pharr while two improved McDonalds are soon to open in Brownsville.
De La Garza said the restaurant closed for several days during the construction but kept its drive-thru open throughout the renovation process.
On Wednesday, May 30, through a public invitation by the La Feria Chamber of Commerce, the community came together to enjoy a complimentary breakfast and live music as the restaurant held a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Chamber, its members and other chamber business members like El Centro and Septic Services by R&R. Santa Maria ISD also helped to make the event a success in welcoming McDonald’s.
