TxDOT to Improve La Feria Roads

For the residents of Citrus Valley too much rain is something they did not think was going to pose a problem to their quiet lifestyle.

But they said things have changed since June.

Gary Knapp and another resident showed up during a city commission meeting loaded with pictures and a letter showing and stating what happened in the Citrus Valley neighborhood.

He said he would like the city or whoever to extend the curb and gutter on Smith Road.

Knapp said water runoff needs to be controlled in order to fix some of the flooding problems.

“If the water is not taken out the problem will remain,” he said. “Any area that is for development should have curb and gutter.”

City Manager Jaime Sandoval said they are aware of the problem, which is one of the reasons they invited those in charge of the Texas Department of Transportation.

Juan Del Bosque, the engineer in charge of the TxDOT office in San Benito, said they are going to start working on several road projects due to the issues they have been having.

“We are looking at 18 months to complete these projects,” he said, “or by February 2020.”

South FM 506 used to be a quiet road but now that there is a school plus Our Lady of the Lake University things have changed, city officials said.
