City Planning Director Wanted in La Feria

Wanted: planning director for City of La Feria.
No, it isn’t what you might think.
It’s actually a city announcement seeking a new planning director to take the job of Robert Escobar whose last day on the job is this Friday, Sept. 28.
Escobar held the job since January of this year and has turned in his resignation as he accepted another job elsewhere.
City Manager Jaime Sandoval said the city is taking applications for the planning director slot that pays more than $50,000 a year.
He said the city planning director wears several hats.
“It isn’t just about planning and zoning,” Sandoval said about the job. “It requires knowledge of such matters as storm water, code enforcement, grant applications and management.”
Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or public administration and, preferably, should be bilingual, be computer literate and have experience in municipal government.
In the meantime, Sandoval said he will be wearing the planning director hat until the job is filled.
