LA FERIA – The past two district titles in volleyball belong to the Lionettes, and there’s no question they will be looking to three-peat.
La Feria’s Lionettes capped off the first round of district by defeating the Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-16) on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
The Lionettes find themselves with a 6-1 record with their only loss coming to the Hidalgo Lady Pirates in a tightly contested game.
The Lionettes reunited with former assistant coach and now Rio Hondo’s head varsity coach Lizzette Esparza. La Feria head coach Rebea Fraga and Esparza are close friends and still are even though they will be coaching from opposing sidelines.
La Feria kicks off the second round against Progreso on September 29th at home, followed by a road trip to Port Isabel on October 2nd, and home against Hidalgo on October 6th.
