LA FERIA – A large crowd at La Feria High School’s gymnasium witnessed another piece of history made on Tuesday night, October 16th.
The La Feria Lionettes swept La Grulla’s Lady Gators 3-0 with scores 25-13, 25-5, and 25-14 and claimed a third consecutive district championship.
The Lionettes went to work early in the first set and only allowed 13 points for the Lady Gators.
Impressively, the Lionettes dominated the second set and surrendered just five points.
The third set was no different as the La Feria gym erupted with cheers with the recent years’ trophies being brought out for the postgame celebrations.
La Feria posts an 12-1 record heading into their final game against Rio Hondo on Monday, October 22.
On Monday night, the Lionettes secured the one seed for the playoffs as they downed the Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 25-15).
