LA FERIA – The La Feria Lions were able to raise a third consecutive gold trophy in their final home game as they downed La Grulla 49-21 on Friday, October 26th.
Junior quarterback Dorian Hernandez led the offensive charge on 11 of 15 passing for 156 yards and 5 total touchdowns.
Senior wideout Noah Conde hauled in three catches for 73 yards, including a 60-yard dime from Hernandez to get Conde in the endzone, while teammate Manny Sanchez grabbed four catches for 36 yards and a score as well.
Tailback Darius Hernandez also reached paydirt on a 33-yard snag from Dorian Hernandez (no relation) in the first half.
Dorian Hernandez also led the ground attack rushing for 286 yards on 14 carries, scoring two of his five scores on the night.
Sophomore running back Avishai Dickerson finished with 89 yards rushing on 14 carries.
The Lions defense has played a big role in the team’s year-long success, and Friday night was no exception.
Only giving up 21 points, senior linebacker Bobby Fraga led the pride defense with 11 tackles. Fellow senior back Jacob Garza wrapped up nine tackles, including two tackles for loss.
With that, the La Feria Lions clinch a third consecutive district championship heading into their final game against Hidalgo.
