Old Year Ends, New Begins with No Major Incidents

Despite the celebrations that take place every New Year’s Eve, no major incidents were reported as a new year began in La Feria and elsewhere.
And that is credited to better police presence.
Police Chief Cesar Diaz said six officers, including himself and a captain were on duty on New Year’s Eve.
“We worked until four a.m. on New Year’s Day,” he said. “Nothing major happened.”
Diaz said a couple of arrests were made for driving while intoxicated and for public intoxication.
He said there was a report about a structural fire near the town of Santa Rosa.
Fire and EMS personnel responded to the call but it was a false alarm.
Other than that, no other incidents were reported.
