Four File to Run in May Election
- Updated: March 8, 2019
by Tony Vindell/LFN
The names of four candidates will appear on the May 4 ballots for three seats on the La Feria City Council.
Mayor Olga Maldonado is seeking reelection as mayor, a post she won in 2016, and will be facing candidate Ronaldo Ortiz, a local pastor.
Commissioner Jesse Zuniga, who was also elected in 2016, filed as well and will be challenged by Alma Martinez-Botello for the Place 1 seat.
Botello-Martinez’s and Ortiz’s names will appear first on the ballot as determined by a drawing held Monday, February 25.
Devin Martinez, a newcomer to city politics, filed to seek reelection to Place 2 after winning a special election in November of last year.
Both Martinezes originally ran for an expired term left by former commissioner Eric Hoff.
Devin Martinez will run unopposed as no one else filed for the seat.
The deadline to file expired at 5 p.m. Friday, February 15.
