- Updated: May 31, 2019
LA FERIA, TX – Noble Texas Builders, in collaboration with Workforce Solutions Cameron and Cameron County Education Initiative (CCEI), hosted the inaugural Draft Day event at their headquarters in La Feria, TX on May 16th.
The draft served as a celebration of employment for 4 individuals who have gone through the Construction program at CCEI funded by Workforce Solutions Cameron. The individuals selected by Noble Texas Builders are: Hector Ortega, Alfonso Campos, Valente Cortez and Sergio Picazo.
“We’re proud to hand them over from the CCEI family, to the Noble family,” Dr. Rita Hernandez of Cameron County Education
Initiative said. “You said you wanted to go to Noble, you held on and now you’re here.”
After the draft, Rene Capistran, CEO and President of Noble Texas Builders, issued a challenge for those in the industry. “I challenge you to step up and be part of this incredible opportunity, to improve our human capital in the Rio Grande Valley,” Capistran said. “We, little Cameron County, are competing in a global economy; the time is now.”
Noble Texas Builders becomes the first company to join Workforce Solutions Cameron in calling new attention to the value and benefits of the skilled trade industry in the region.
“What we do is try to assess what our customers need, what’s the best fit,” Henry Castillo, Regional Director of Workforce Solutions Cameron said. “We step in and speak with employers that best match those needs and finalize a training plan.”
This on-the-job training (OJT) plan allows workforce participants to obtain employment while Workforce Solutions Cameron provides financial assistance to companies to help offset the costs of the training.
