Ram’s BBQ Cooks Tasty Meats, Comfort Food

Although the business sign at Ram’s BBQ in La Feria is not very visible from the Expressway 83, the business has been cooking tasty meats for more than a decade.
The family owned eatery opened here 10 years ago, but it has been serving brisket, chicken, spare rib, fajitas and other food items for about 40 years at the Mercedes-based Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo.
In the last two years, Ram’s was hired by the Los Fresnos Rodeo to serve food during media night.
Eric Ramirez said their biggest seller is brisket.
“We usually cook from ten to thirteen briskets a day,” he said. “We use a slow cooking method in order to come out with a tender and juicy meat.”
Ramirez said they want to expand their operation and are currently planning to run a food truck to go sell BBQ at some of the area events.
He said they went to a music fest held in Weslaco earlier this month and did pretty good.
Rachel Judge of Victoria, who ate at Ram’s for the first time, said she liked the brisket.
“It was real good,” she said. “It was moist and tender.”
Alfonso Bojorquez and Sarah Garcia of Harlingen and Terance Caldwell of Rio Hondo also said they enjoyed lunch at Ram’s.
