City Distributing Sand Bags Every Saturday Beginning in July

The City of La Feria will distribute sandbags to home and business owners during the month of July so area residents are better prepared during this hurricane season that runs through the month of November.
Five bags and 10 bags will be given to homeowners and businesses each Saturday in July at the city’s warehouse on First Street.
Alfonso Rodriguez, Public Works Director for the city of La Feria, said anybody picking up bags must provide a copy of their water bill.
“This is the first time we are around,” he said.
“We have distributed bags but only during one day.”
Rodriguez said City Manager Jaime Sandoval instructed them to do it different this time so residents can be prepared beforehand.
“If this goes well, “he said, “we will do it every year.”
Taxpayers will be in charge of bagging their own bags from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday in July.
