Street Market Coming to La Feria
- Updated: June 7, 2019
Most every city in Cameron County has it’s own “market day” or “farmer market” in which dozens of vendors set up booths or stand by a small area to sell an array of merchandise.
Many Valley cities – Brownsville, Harlingen, Port Isabel, Los Fresnos, South Padre Island and the Town of Rancho Viejo – have begun to hold these type of events with much success.
Oleander Street Market will bring this kind of family event to La Feria, giving people something else to do. Which is timely since schools are closed for the summer.
This Saturday, June 8, be sure to head out to Oleander Street in La Feria, TX to enjoy the day walking, shopping, and to listening to some live music.
Oleander Street Market will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. all along East and West Oleander Avenue.
The idea is the brainchild of Carmen Cadena, owner of the Hair Shoppe.
The outdoor market, she says, is being scheduled for every second Saturday of the month.
The event has received the support of the city council as the administrative body voted on a motion during its May 28 meeting to close the portion of Oleander Avenue to be used for the market.
More than 12 vendors have signed up as of press time.
Anyone interested in being a part of this exciting new event is invited to call Reva Ayala at 956-893-3488 or Carmen Cadena at 956-202-2607.
The Oleander Street Market also has a Facebook group which you can find here.
