VBMC-Harlingen Receives National Recognition

One of the major hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine has named Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen as a High Performing Hospital for 2019-20 for the treatment of heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). That is in addition to knee replacement procedures.
The ratings are in recognition of care that was significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes
Manny Vela, chief executive officer with VBMC, extolled the importance of getting such an award.
“We could not be more proud of the recognition Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen has received from U.S. News & World Report,” he said. “Awards like these are made possible only through the dedication and tireless work of our physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff who treat our patients as though they were family.”
The award is a reaffirmation of the services VBMC provides.
“This means the hospital continues to provide high quality health care services to the community,” Matt Lynch, a communication specialist with Valley Baptist Health Systems. “VBMC has received numerous awards but this gives us a different kind of recognition.”
VBMC-Harlingen employs1,593 plus another 475 who work in support services such as in food and security.
