by Tony Vindell/LFN
For the La Feria football team, the new season got off to a good start with its first non-conference win away from home.
The Lions roared over the Raymondville Bearkats scoring 17 points against their opponent seven points.
The Lions scored seven points in the first quarter and 10 points in the last quarter of the game, while the Bearkats scored their only seven points in the second quarter.
Oscar Salinas, the Lions coach, said he feels really good about the teams overall performance.
“I was pleased how we played,” he said, “particularly after the first quarter.”
Salinas said quarterback Dorian Hernandez, a senior, played an excellent game.
The Lions overall record was 11-2 last year and the team made it to the region’s quarter final.
The Lions were scheduled to play the Santa Rosa Warriors on Friday in a home non-conference game.
