Four Sets of Twins Delivered in One Day in Mid-Valley
- Updated: October 11, 2019
WESLACO – September 23, 2019, was “Twins’ Day” in the Mid-Valley area – as four sets of twins were delivered in one day at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Having four sets of twins delivered in one day was a record for the Mid-Valley, according to nurses at the Knapp Women’s Center.
“We would like to congratulate the parents for the birth of their babies – and thank them for helping us to make history here in the Mid-Valley!” said Olivia Estrada, RN, Director of Women’s Health Services for Knapp.
Ms. Estrada said the mothers and their babies were doing well. Three sets of the twins were ready to be discharged from the hospital within two days after their deliveries.
The four sets of twins included two sets of baby boys, one set of baby girls, and one set of a boy and girl. The set of two baby girls were delivered by Brandy Cavazos, of Santa Rosa. Baby Emily Martinez of Santa Rosa was born on Sept. 23 at 10:24 a.m., followed a minute later by her sister, Baby Bella Martinez, at 10:25 a.m.
“Monday, September 23, was a busy day for us here in the Knapp Women’s Center, but as always, our dedicated obstetricians, neonatologists, midwife, nurses and other healthcare professionals were ready and able to care for our smallest patients and their mothers,” Ms. Estrada added.
Knapp Medical Center provides award-winning maternity care for women in an attractive and convenient setting, away from traffic, in the Mid-Valley area.
Recently, Knapp Medical Center was named one of only 12 hospitals in the entire state of Texas to receive all three of the “Women’s Care Specialty Excellence Awards” awarded by Healthgrades, an online resource for information about hospitals. The three awards were for obstetrics and gynecology, labor and delivery, and gynecologic surgery.
Knapp also offers free childbirth classes to help educate expectant parents regarding the labor and delivery process, pain management options, newborn care, breast-feeding, nutrition, and exercise, as well as free infant car seat classes.
