LFPD to Increase Vigilance During Holiday Season

The holiday season is here but don’t let your guard down, the La Feria police chief said.
That is because this is the time of year when people go shopping while others travel either for vacation or to see relatives somewhere else.
“Everything has been kind of quiet,” Chief Cesar Diaz said. “But things tend to change during the holidays.”
He recommends residents keep the doors of their vehicles locked, not have any valuables in sight and keep their homes secured.
Diaz said his patrol officers are most vigilant when area schools close during the holidays.
The district closed last week for the Thanksgiving holiday and will close again from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3 for the Christmas holiday.
Diaz said that allows police to concentrate more on patrolling city streets and neighborhoods because no officers are assigned to patrol the streets when schools are in session.
The LFPD consists of 15 officers and five dispatchers.
