27th Annual Fiesta de La Feria Returns February 15th

Although the 2020 Fiesta de La Feria is a little more than a month away, now is the time to start making plans to attend the city’s major event of the year.
So write down Feb. 15.
Now in its 27th year, the event features live concerts, food for every taste such as hamburgers, tacos, Texas-styled BBQ, kettle corn, freshly squeezed juice, funnel cakes and many other items
The ever popular car show will also make its presence as it has been for several years.
Participants from as far as Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and throughout the Rio Grande Valley bring their best classic vehicles and motorcycles to compete for prizes.
Close to 200 entries were submitted in 2019.
One of the competitors will go home with the top prize given out by the city’s highest elected official.
Mayor Olga Maldonado said the Fiesta de la Feria is the city’s biggest event of the year.
“It started many years ago,“ she told La Feria News in 2019, “with the idea to bring people together.”
Maldonado also said every city in the Valley has its own community-wide event.
Because La Feria is centrally located between some of the Valley’s largest cities, the event attracts several thousand people from all over the region and beyond.
The city sponsored fiesta was launched as a family-oriented celebration with the idea to give residents something to do this time of year.
It’s worthwhile to mention that the Fiesta de La Feria coincides this year with the biggest day of another major Valley event.
That is the Los Fresnos Rodeo – a three-day event to be held Feb. 14, 15 and 16.
The rodeo also attracts thousands of people to watch some of the nation’s best cowboys and cowgirls competing for top prizes.
