Get your running or walking shoes on as the annual Causeway Run & Fitness Walk is this Saturday.
Now in its 35th year, this annual event attracts over two thousand participants from all sizes and ages.
The 10K causeway run starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K Fitness Walk begins at 8:15.
In 2019, its organizers said they were setting up a scholarship program to award four $500 scholarships to graduating high school students from the area.
The run and fitness walk is a Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce program. It starts in front of the chamber, goes over the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway and ends on the bridge’s side of the Town of South Padre Island.
Each participant gets a medal at the finish line from representatives of several area companies.
The proceeds from the event go to the chamber.
For more information please call the chamber at 956-943-2262 or go to bit.ly/2020run-walk.
