Several local eateries close completely amid COVID-19 outbreak

Since Gov. Greg Abbott banned dining in at restaurants, many restaurants across Texas have either closed their doors or moved to take-out or drive-thru.

In Gov. Abbott’s most recent address, he called restaurants a “very important food supply source” and encouraged people to visit their local restaurants.

Here in La Feria, restaurants like Los Leones stayed open by offering take-out and displaying its daily specials on the window. On March 24, however, the restaurant decided to close its doors until further notice.

Los Amigos was also offering take-out, but also ended up temporarily closing its doors.

La Feria Café decided to close amid the coronavirus pandemic on March 19 until further notice.

Fast-food restaurants like Whataburger, Church’s Chicken, McDonald’s and others have closed their dining rooms but kept their drive-thru windows open.

Many stores are also having to restrict the number of items a person can buy. El Centro Foods, Family Dollar and Dollar General all have limits on certain items.

On days that Family Dollar has merchandise delivered, to avoid the chaos, it closes its doors to limit the amount of people that go in to 10 at a time.
