LA FERIA – With Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently allowing the reopening of hair salons and barber shops, Joe Becerra and his wife, Norma, used the opportunity to open Retro Joe’s Classic Cuts.
The barber shop, which is located at 605 N. Main St., has been open now for about three weeks and, like all shops and salons, has taken precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus by eliminating congestion in the building. To do so, the shop takes appointments only to keep the flow of visitors down to a minimum. Only one person is allowed in the shop with the barber, and both have to wear face coverings.
Anyone wanting to go in and set up an appointment can go online and contact lead barber Alex Hernandez and go through him for setting up a time.
Retro Joe’s is hiring as well. Anyone interested in being a barber at the shop can contact Norma or Joe through the shop’s Facebook page at “Retro Joe’s Classic Cuts.”
