Popular local restaurant reopens for business

LA FERIA – As Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that certain non-essential services and activities were allowed to reopen as of May 1, many local businesses slowly started opening up, including Los Leones Restaurant.

Although it must limit services to just 25 percent capacity per the governor’s orders, the popular local eatery decided to open its doors on May 1.

Other restaurants in town like La Feria Café, however, decided to wait and reopen once given the OK to open up at 50 percent capacity.

Businesses and restaurants that did reopen must practice the social distancing protocols, including maintaining at least six feet separation from other individuals not within the same household. If such distancing is not feasible, other measures such as face coverings, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, cleanliness, and sanitation should be rigorously practiced.

Also, individuals must self-screen before going into a business for any signs or COVID-10 symptoms, including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills or shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, feeling feverish or a temperature greater than or equal to 100.00 degrees. Also, if anyone is known to have had close contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19, those individuals are encouraged to stay home.

Employers must also screen employees before they start working again to make sure they aren’t sick or have been exposed to someone with symptoms.

Businesses and services that were allowed to reopen as of May 1 included retailers, movie theaters, museums and libraries, churches and places of worship, outdoor sports participants and single person offices.
