The La Feria Varsity Tennis Team won the 32-4A Team Tennis District Championship by defeating the Port Isabel Tarpons with an overall score of 10-4. The Lions and Lionettes ended doubles competition up 4-3 following victories from the Boys Doubles teams of Nicolas Jimenez & Damien Cantu, Ythan Castillo & Jonathon Leal, Eduardo Anell & Antonio Rodriguez, and the Mixed Doubles team of Marlene Gutierrez & David Gomez.
All three girls doubles teams of Julia Conde & Jimena Salazar, Taylor Castelan & Marissa Pizana, and Jessica Herrera & Maribel Munoz fought hard but fell short in close matches. With only 6 more matches to win in order to win overall as a team, the top of the line-up for both the boys and the girls side stepped up and swept the singles competition. Nicolas Jimenez, Eduardo Anell, Damien Cantu, Ythan Castillo, Jonathan Leal and Antonio Rodriguez all won their boys singles matches in straight sets.
Julia Conde, Jimena Salazar, Marlene Gutierrez and Marissa Pizana all won their girls singles matches by coming from behind and winning in very close 3rd set Tie-breakers. The Lions and Lionettes season ended after falling to the Hondo Owls in the Area Round Playoff.
