MERCEDES – Counseling and a variety of medical services are offered at a spacious family practice clinic in Mercedes, which serves patients of all ages, including adults, senior adults, teenagers, and children.

The UT Health RGV / Knapp Family Health Center, conveniently located off the Expressway at the N. Mile 2 West Rd. exit, provides mental health services with Jennifer Ortega, DPC, LPC, CPC, a licensed professional counselor, behavioral scientist and assistant professor with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine.
Dr. Ortega is available for appointments with those dealing with anxiety, depression and other conditions.
When it comes to dealing with grief during the holidays, losing a loved one can be one of life’s most difficult experiences.
Grief is a natural, emotional reaction. Every relationship is different, so people experience grief differently. Grief can cause feelings of sadness, anger, confusion, and difficulty returning to a normal routine.
“Listen to your feelings and check-in with yourself,” said Teena Ahuja, Vice-President of Behavioral Health for Prime Healthcare. “It’s OK not be OK.
Remember, you are not alone, and this too shall pass.”
