Knapp Medical Center in top 10% for orthopedic surgery

WESLACO – Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco has been named in the top 10 percent in the nation for orthopedic surgery and for patient safety – and has been recognized for 5-star care for hip fracture treatment, gastrointestinal surgery, appendectomy procedures, and gynecologic surgery.

The recognition from Heathgrades — a national company which specializes in information about healthcare — is the latest accolade for Knapp, which serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, with 227 beds.

Knapp’s recognition included being named a 5-star recipient for performing hip fracture treatment — for the 9th year in a row – as well as receiving the “Healthgrades 2020 Patient Safety Excellence Award™”.
