As many of us love our SPI, not many of us take the time to keep it clean. Well, on Friday, February 3rd, students volunteered to clean our lovely South Padre Island.
Mrs. Jackline Perez, HOSA sponsor, says that “Although it was VERY cold the kids enjoyed helping keep their beach clean.” She says they were all surprised as to how much trash they actually picked up. “I would say that our group [alone] filled close to 10 bags of trash.” Mrs. Perez shares that the students were from both health science skills USA and HOSA.
This community service is a part of the ADOPT A BEACH campaign that has trash pick-up days throughout the year. Perez says “As both of our organizations are committed to giving back to our communities, both organizations jumped at the chance to do just that.”
Thank you, Students and Staff & GO LIONS!
