The La Feria Lions continue in District 32-4A action in the 2023 Texas High School Baseball Season.
After the 2-2 start that saw La Feria pick up wins over Raymondville and Grulla, as well as losing to Hidalgo and Zapata, the Lions were slated to go against Harmony School of innovation. Key offense for the Lions allowed La Feria to knock in seven runs and render HSI Scoreless and won 7-0.
La Feria then took on another key rival in Port Isabel. In what was a back and forth battle in the beginning saw the Tarpons take the lead and ran with it as Port Isabel picked up the 5-2 win over La Feria.
Now 3-3 in District, La Feria looks to compete in 32-4A Playoff Race. As we near the midway point, here is where we stand. Due to heavy rains last week, a few teams are still pending a makeup game.
Defending District Champion Hidalgo currently sits as the top seed with a 5-1 record. Knocking on their door in second are the Grulla Gators with a 5-2 record. Coming in third are newly added Zapata Hawks who hold a 4-1 record. In fourth place is La Feria who holds a 3-3 record.
In the hunt for the postseason are Port Isabel and Raymondville, who both hold a 2-4 record. Lastly in sixth is Harmony School of Innovation, who are still in search of their first district win.
The loss to Port Isabel marks the end of the first half of 32-4A play. Zapata and Raymondville will be the games La Feria will start the second half with.
