The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants rivalry has not only been one of the most popular in California, but also one of the most famous in all of Major League Baseball.
Dating back to the days of Brooklyn and New York, the Giants and Dodgers faced off in another edition of the historic rivalry.
The Dodgers and Giants clashed in the series opener on Friday. In what was a wild matchup, both teams got hot and the bats were off and running as both teams picked up solid hits throughout the night. In a close game, nine innings was not enough as the Giants outlasted the Dodgers 7-5 in eleven innings.
Game two saw the Dodgers and Giants in a completely opposite matchup than Friday’s game. San Francisco ran with the lead and never looked back, defeating the Dodgers 15-0, handing Los Angeles their worst home loss in franchise history.
Los Angeles looking to salvage a game, quickly fell behind in the game of runs as San Francisco took control again and held on to win 7-3. The series loss marked the Dodgers’ first sweep this season.
The Loss also marked the Dodgers’ drop down in the National League West Standings. Arizona sits in first, San Francisco in second, and Los Angeles in third.
The defending NL West Championship look to turn the tide in the West division race as the All Star Break Nears ever closer.
