With Baseball Season thriving, we take a look at Minor League Baseball as the Corpus Christi Hooks played host to the Midland Rockhounds. In their second straight home stand, The Hooks were looking to defend the home ballpark after a home series win over the Tulsa Drillers.
The Hooks captured the first two games of the series before dropping two straight, including a 5-4 loss on Friday that saw the hooks spark a comeback led by Shay Whitcomb, who blasted a home-run to get the momentum rolling.
Now 2-2 in the series, the tempo for games five and six was pure dominance. Hooks’ right fielder Quincy Hamilton stole the show, hitting two grand slams in both games. On Saturday the Hooks would win 10-5, then 7-5 on Sunday. In total, the Hooks won four games to two.
With the series win, The Hooks improved to 22-24 and sit in third in the South Division of the Texas League. The Hooks sit two games behind Midland, and have a win percentage of .478. The Hooks now turn their attention to The Northwest Arkansas Travelers in their next season.
