On Friday September 8, 2023, the City of La Feria held a safety driving seminar at the City Public Works building on 1st street. In partnership with Bobby Vickery of Texas Environmental Training and Compliance (TETC) the city held its first Driving Simulator Training. There was a total of 20 city employee participants from the public works and police department. According to TETC the driving simulator training offers several advantages including reducing accidents, reducing vehicle maintenance, fuel costs, and increasing driver confidence, performance, and retention. The training was held all morning with different sessions and consisted of classroom training and simulated driving training. Alfonso Rodriguez, the City of La Feria Public Works Director mentioned that the city has been wanting to have a safety class as it is a priority for all city employees to be involved in safety training. “This is just a kickoff to future safety-related training the city plans to implement in the future.” Mr. Rodriguez would like to Thank Interim City Manager Frank Rios, Jr. along with the Mayor and City Commission for working together to move forward for the betterment of the La Feria Community.
