La Feria News
The La Feria Lions basketball team continued non-district play as they hosted the 92nd annual C.E. Vail Tournament in La Feria. Multiple teams from across the Rio Grande Valley converged in La Feria for an exciting weekend of Basketball.
For the Lions however, it wasn’t the best of weekends as La Feria Struggled against multiple opponents throughout the course of the tournament.
La Feria had some key matchups against Brownsville Hanna, Santa Gertrudis Academy and Corpus Christi Miller. Against the Golden Eagles, The Lions fell 54-46 to Hanna who came up strong late in the game. The Miller Buccaneers were up and The Lions struggled to get the ball rolling and suffered their worst loss of the season at 81-18.
In their final game of tournament play, La Feria faced off against Santa Gertrudis and was truly the toughest task of the whole tournament. A back and forth shoutout in the battle of the Lions, SGA was able to slip away late in the game and win 47-45.
Eventually, three champions were crowned over the Weekend as Valley View won the Bronze title, Corpus Christi Miller the silver title and Harlingen won the gold.
An exciting weekend for hoops, La Feria will continue to gear up for District 32-4A play around the corner.
