Local author Scott Kimak who was born in Roselle, Illinois but moved to the Rio Grande Valley back in 1995 and studied at UTRGV. He is on his sixth paperback novel with a short story available in digital form.
Scott had an idea for his novel almost forty years ago but after a negative review he did not pursue the idea at that time. When he first moved here to the RGV, he immediately started Bei Shaolin Kung Fu school in Harlingen. The school was open from 1995 to 2020. Even though the school is closed Scott Kimak will always be a Kung Fu Master.
He is currently working as a writer and as a history teacher in Harlingen. He mentioned that it was a good thing he had summers off because one day four years ago he decided to try writing again. After that his words just flowed unrestrained and he hasn’t stopped writing since.
I had the pleasure of meeting Scott at the Valle Vista Mall in Harlingen and was able to purchase a signed copy of his book After the Apocalypse. I was very fascinated with his books and background. I am very happy that he decided to resume his writing because even though I just started to read his novels I was very impressed with his style of writing which brings you into his stories.
Scott mentioned that the only advice he can give is to never give up on your dreams and don’t let anyone discourage you no matter how much time passes. Scott lives in Harlingen with the love of his life Diana. He has four children and he mentioned six annoying pets. I would like to thank Scott for his time and wish him much success going forward. I can’t wait to finish reading his novels.
