With the calendar coming to a close, 2025 is officially here. Although it’s a new year, the Lions still continue their winning ways. After a long non-district calendar, we have finally reached the last two games before 32-4A play opens.
Due up first was a true challenge against Brownsville Veterans Memorial. The Chargers out of 32-6A were looking for their first win since December 20. The Lions however had a different plan in mind. The Lions and Chargers clashed in a close battle. Despite a tough offense by the Chargers, La Feria who was consistent with the scoring, combined with good defense, sealed the win 49-40.
Aiming to keep the winning ways going, the Lions then took on Harvest Christian Academy. Another close battle for the Lions, the Eagles gave the Lions a challenge. Once again, great defense came through, along with solid defense allowed the Lions to pick up the win 65-48.
With the last two wins of Non-District, The Lions finish with a 13-7 record and will now turn their attention to District 32-4A
On a side note, speaking of 32-4A, the La Feria Lionettes opened up district play against the Port Isabel Lady Tarpons. The Lionettes played solid offense and defense to take the win 59-38.
Switching Gears back to the Boys, The first half of 32-4A play will open against Hidalgo on January 10, then Brownsville Jubilee on January 14. The Next three to end round one are against Valley View on January 17, Port Isabel on January 21. And La Grulla on January 24.
Last season, La Feria finished second District with a 12-2 record. Their only two loses came to Port Isabel. This season, The Lions have a great team to make a serious run at the 32-4A title.
