Six LFISD Students Enter CDL Certification Program

By Mike Villarreal

The La Feria Independent School District (ISD) has joined forces with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to pave the way for a brighter future through a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certification program. Six motivated students from La Feria Early College High School are set to embark on an exciting journey at the Professional Driving Academy on the Harlingen campus. This collaboration empowers students to gain valuable CDL training, combining essential theoretical knowledge of truck driving with practical, hands-on driving experience, as well as forklift training from the college’s Workforce Training and Continuing Education department, starting this May.

As the demand for skilled truck drivers continues to rise, this program is dedicated to shaping the future of the Rio Grande Valley by cultivating qualified drivers. Good luck to Nathaniel Alonzo, Victor Flores, Scott Hernandez, Brandon Lopez, Jose Mejia, and Joseph Soto as they earn their Class A CDL license and forklift certification, which will open doors to new opportunities.

TSTC’s CDL program includes an in-house written exam and a hands-on driving test, serving as a recognized third-party testing site for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
