Tristan Hinojosa Attends Texas Lions Camp Thanks to Sponsorship by the Mercedes Lions Club
- Updated: August 9, 2013
Tristan Hinojosa was a guest at the Mercedes Lions Club in July after attending the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX. Tristan’s spirited report of the week made it easy for the Lions Club members to see how he had received an award as the “Most Enthusiastic Camper.” Also attending the meeting were his mother, Cynthia Dominguez, his uncle, Mark Dominguez, and grandparents, Fernando and Delia Dominguez.
The Mercedes Lions Club sponsored Tristan in attending the Texas Lions Camp which is a non-profit organization funded by Lions Clubs of Texas and other caring individuals for children with disabilites. Texas Lions Camp is a residential camping facility for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes and cancer. The Camp is located on over 500 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and is designed to introduce the “Can Do” philosophy to children dealing with special medical conditions. Children with special needs from all over the
State of Texas are invited to attend one of 9 weeks designed for fun, exploration and challenge. All children attend camp at no cost to them or their families.
The Texas Lions Camp was chartered in 1949 in response to the terrible polio epidemic that forever changed the lives of so many Texas children. Since that time, the Texas Lions Camp has dynamically changed to include children who have all manner and types of physical disabilities, diabetes and cancer. Over 1,500 children per summer attend Texas Lions Camp.
Anyone wanting more information about the camp may contact Lions Club President, Laura McCutchen at (956) 975-1702.
