Selene Olguin, a teen author from the Rio Grande Valley, is continuing her local book tour this month with two scheduled appearances. She was recently featured in an interview with Noticias RGV on July 16, 2025, and is set to appear at the Sip Society in Brownsville on Sunday, July 27. The event will take place at 1018 E. Washington St. and is open to the public.

Olguin made her debut as a published author in 2020 at the age of 11 with Animal Tails, a collection of four short stories that reflect challenges commonly faced by children. The book marked her first step into the world of storytelling and creative writing.
Her work soon gained local recognition, with her poetry featured in La Feria News. That exposure eventually led to an internship in journalism, further expanding her experience as a young writer.
In 2024, Olguin released her second publication, A Poetic Journey, a compilation of poems spanning five years. The collection showcases her growth as both a person and a writer, offering readers a chronological glimpse into her evolving voice and perspective.
As she continues her creative path, Olguin remains active in the local writing community and is expected to hold additional events throughout the RGV.
