Mildred Walker

Mildred I. Walker was born on July 2, 1930 to Bob and Velma Dicus of Mercedes, Tx. She passed away in her home in Richmond, Tx on April 25, 2017 and was buried in Denton, Tx. She lived in La Feria most of her teenage years and was a 1947 La Feria High School graduate. Mildred married William (Bill) R. Walker on Sept. 6, 1952, and moved to Richmond in 1959, where she taught at Jane Long Elementary for 3 years, Lamar Jr. High, for 12 yrs, and was named L.C.I.S.D. Teacher of the Year in 1973 and 1974. Mildred retired in 1982 after 15 years of teaching. Mildred lost a 3 year battle with caner and passed as she wished which was peacefully and pain free at home.
