Veterans’ Memorial Unveiled

Local veterans, city officials and monument committee members attended the Special Unveiling Ceremony for the La Feria Veterans’ Memorial Monument on Monday, May 29th, Memorial Day. The monument has been in the works for several years, initially funded with the help of a group of local veterans lead by Vietnam Veteran Joseph Perez.
The La Feria Veterans’ Memorial Monument Committee presented the La Feria City Commission with a check for over $10,000 at a Committee meeting in February of last year and asked the city to help raise the remaining funds for the monument.
The committee agreed and the city held a groundbreaking ceremony for the monument on Memorial Day 2016.
The monument can be seen at the corner of Business 83 and Main Street in La Feria.
The Veterans’ Memorial Monument Committee are: John Betancourt, Edward Cornelius, Raul Garate, Adam Gonzalez, Ramon Gonzalez, John Hernandez, John Hernandez, Jr., Joe Loya, Robert Ramos, Judge Arturo Salas, Charlie Villanueva, Jr and Lori Weaver.
