Job Fair Connects Prospective Employers with Job Seekers

Chamber of Commerce sponsors annual event

The door to job opportunities opened for upwards of 88 local job seekers during the recent Job Fair sponsored by the La Feria Chamber of Commerce. The day-long event took place June 10th at the La Feria Recreation Center on Pablo Maples street.
“It is the third time the chamber has hosted the event, and we were very pleased with the turnout of prospective employers and job seekers this year.” said Reva Ayala, La Feria Chamber of Commerce member and past president..
The well-supported job fair turned the recreation center into a temporary employment agency of sorts, opening a door that connected prospective employers with qualified job seekers. It gave the people of Cameron County an opportunity to see what is available, and help them find a job according to Ayala.

Ayala said these job fairs every year help connect more job seekers and a wider range of top-rated, potential employers looking for good hires. The fair presents an opportunity for persons seeking a new job, a better job or a career change.”
LA FERIA NEWS spoke with several companies attending, and they all expressed appreciation for the chamber-sponsored event. The companies said they had met with good, qualified, candidates during the job fair.
Fair coordinator Ayala listed the following 18 employers present for the Job Fair:
Bert Ogden Rio Grande Valley, Gillman Automotive Group, Charlie Clark Nissan, La Feria ISD, Sylvan Learning Centers of the Rio Grande Valley, Dish Network Customer Service, Cricket Wireless, PTT Financial, Primerica Financial Services, Southern Career Institute, El Centro Foods, La Feria Fire Department, Whataburger, JC Wings Co., Family 1st, Texas Workforce of Cameron County.

President Sunny Philip thanked all the employers who participated and the volunteers who worked hard to make it a success. He said, “ the La Feria Chamber of Commerce plans to make the annual Job Fair a top-priority event for prospective employers and persons seeking a new or better job”
