5th Annual Aaron Vincent Juarez Scholarship Game a Success
- Updated: August 25, 2017
Special to La Feria News
The Juarez and Garza families would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out as a community united to support the 5th annual Aaron Vincent Juarez Scholarship Basketball game on Saturday, August 12.
A huge thanks is expressed to our LFISD administration and staff, GPA shirts out of Oklahoma, our volunteers, sponsors, all the people and local businesses who donated, and everyone who gave up their day to be with us in celebration of Aaron’s life. I would especially like to thank the players who commit to this event each year. Many of our players have taken this emotional five year journey with us.
Although many of them are local, some do travel from Houston, San Antonio, and others from the Kingsville/Corpus area. Together, we are one. Together, we have stood by each other and have made this day extremely special and successful. Together, through the Aaron Vincent Juarez Scholarship, we as a community have and are making a difference in the life of students.
We are proud to say that the scholarship has been awarded to 5 UTRGV /UTPA students in the Physician’s Assistant Program.
The first being Ronald Yang followed by Hector Martinez, Mayleen Soto, Victor Pena and one of our very own La Feria alumni, the 2017 recipient Terrie Garcia. And for the first time, also this year, the scholarship was awarded to a LFHS senior, Isis Bernal. The AVJ Scholarship is helping these students Continue Their Dream.
