Lions Take 32-4A District Golf Title
- Updated: April 13, 2018
The Lions team competed Monday April 2nd at the 32 4A District tournament held in Harlingen. In high wind conditions the Lion golf team prevailed shooting a team score of 376. The next closest team was Hidalgo shooting a team 412.
Andy Cortez dominated the course and high winds, he won the overall individual District title. Andy was a Regional medalist and state qualifier the previous year. These Lions have been working hard all season since school started.
They participate in Junior golf tournaments during the summer and start their high school season as soon as school starts for the year. They have been competing against stronger 6A and 5A boys teams and this has helped them dominate their district.
The Regional meet will be held later this month at Gabe Lozano golf course in Corpus Christi. Look for the boys to make a strong showing.
Andy Cortez will be on the hunt for his second straight state tournament appearance and hopefully the whole team can advance also.
