Trick or Treat! Was the phrase heard throughout Halloween. Lots of little ghouls and goblins roamed the streets looking for sweet treats last week on Halloween. To make the evening safe, several places around town held their own Halloween events. The La Feria Police Department held their yearly event handing out candy while everyone enjoyed music and photo opportunities.
The evening prior the La Feria ISD held its Monster Mash Candy bash. This event was held indoors since we had just received our coldest cold front of the year. They had music, candy, games and even had the Jurassic RGV there for all the kids to enjoy. The event took place at the La Feria Early College High School. The weekend prior, Our Lady of the Lake here in La Feira held their 2nd annual Trunk or Treat which included music, games, and candy giveaway.
We the La Feia News also got together and joined El Norteno Boots and Bar and Aaron’s Brakes for our own candy giveaway. Hot dogs, drinks, candies and goodie bags were given away on Halloween night. This year the kids got highly creative with their costumes, and it’s good thing El Norteno provided a Halloween back drop for photo opportunities. For our small event we had a great turnout. We hope to continue this tradition for years to come and to be able to hold a giveaway in a safe environment for all kids to enjoy.
