City Holds Annual Lighting of the Tree

By Mike Villarreal

On Thursday, November 21st, the City of La Feria celebrated the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, a cherished tradition that brings the community together. The festivities commenced at 6 PM at the La Feria Municipal Complex, where families gathered to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
This year’s event featured various engaging activities for attendees of all ages. Children were especially thrilled to visit the interactive Letter to Santa Station, where they could write their wishes and send them off to the North Pole. The spirit of the season was further enhanced by live music performances, including joyous Christmas caroling by the talented La Feria Early College High School Choir, whose voices filled the air with classic holiday tunes.

One of the highlights of the evening was the chance for families to capture memorable moments with Santa Claus himself as he happily posed for photos with excited children. The festive ambiance was complemented by hot chocolate and sweet bread, providing a warm treat for everyone enjoying the crisp evening air.

The turnout for this year’s ceremony was remarkable, demonstrating the strong sense of community in La Feria. Residents of all ages celebrated this special occasion, marking the official start of the Christmas holiday season.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the La Feria Police and Fire Departments for their invaluable support in ensuring the event was safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.

With the City Christmas tree now beautifully illuminated, the community is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming 26th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. This highly anticipated event is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th, at 6 PM and will proceed down Main Street. This year, the parade theme is “The Grinch,” promising a festive celebration filled with whimsical floats and holiday cheer.
