Special to La Feria News
Through the generous gift of time, donations, sponsorship and compassion over 150 volunteers helped make this year’s 25th Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast of Sharing a success.
More than 75 cooked turkeys along with mash potatoes, green beans, corn, dressing, and gravy were donated this year. Volunteers were able to distribute over 1,800 plates to needy families from the community.
“Feeling, thankful, blessed and humbled. We could not have done this without everyone’s help!” said Alma Martinez, a member of the La Feria Chamber of Commerce who co-chaired the event with Pastor Mary Breden.
“I appreciate all the hard work that takes for making this event a successful. Please keep in mind and in your hearts why we do this – is to help the less fortunate and needy in our community and the love for one another.”
In a thank you letter from Chamber President Sunny K. Philip, The La Feria Chamber of Commerce also thanked the organizations that collaborated to make the event possible. St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church, New Creation Church, La Feria Church of Christ, First Baptist Church, La Feria ISD, the South Texas Collaborative for Housing Development, Inc., The La Feria Lions Club, American Legion Post 439 and several other donors worked to bring this feast together.
“The Annual Thanksgiving Feast is made possible through the generosity and support of caring individuals and organizations throughout La Feria. Let’s work together towards greater good. May God bless you always friends!” said Martinez.
