Shrdlu Our Office Cat Hot Stuff…
- Updated: December 15, 2017
The corner has been overworked this week, and even our usually industrious office cat, Shrdlu, is about to fall in his tracks.
We had difficulties with the weather, Shrdlu became a regular stoker of fires this week, seems that the weather had too much drip in it.
In fact, the weather was just one big drip, Shrdlu told us, plaintively.
Humidity has its hurt to the printing business. It makes paper limp and hard to manage in the presses. It also made a special powder we had been using seem like mud.
So Shrdlu’s job was keeping the fires hot, even in the unusually warm weather, in order to keep the moisture content of the paper and powder to a minimum.
Shrdlu, working around the stoves and perspiring mightily, was overheard singing: “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.”
And for good reason.
This installment of Shrdlu our Office Cat ran in the December 16, 1948 issue of La Feria News.
