La Feria to Hold National Night Out on August 9th

This Thursday head out to the city’s Recreational Center on West Pancho Maples Street.
The city is hosting their annual National Night Out from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9.
Hundreds of back packs, school supplies and even snacks will be distributed among children just in time as the 2018-19 school year begins.
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 27 for the district population of 3,500 students.
La Feria City council approved a proclamation declaring Aug. 9 National Night Out during its last meeting held Tuesday, July 24.
City Manager Jaime Sandoval said law enforcement agencies from several entities will be on hand during the event, including the U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration & Customs Enforcement as well as Emergency Medical Services.
Officers with La Feria Police Department will be handing out the goodies.
National Night Out is an awareness raising event hosted by police department from many communities throughout the country, including La Feria.
It’s usually held during the first Tuesday of month of August, but Texas and the state of Florida have the alternative of having the event in October due to the hot weather.
