2019 Car in the Park Car Show and Toy Drive

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, the La Feria Police Department in connection with Mid Valley Business Network, Trophy Plus, Los Leones Restaurant and Aarons Brakes & Alignement hosted a car show and toy drive at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex located at 904 Pancho Maples Drive. The car show entries filled the parking lot of the sports complex and drew crowds of visitors to look over the antique cars, muscle cars, jeeps, trucks, lowrider cars and even rat rods. The police department’s three toy collection boxes were filled as entrants donated two unwrapped toys as entry fee while some chose to donate the $20 entry fee to the toy drive. It was an afternoon of automotive fun, food and music.

There were awards given to first, second, and third places in 7 auto categories and presented by Mayor Olga Maldonado. In the Classics category: 1st place – Jack Robinson, 2nd place – Juan Tristan, 3rd place – Jimmy Deleon. In Muscle: 1st place – Michael Martinez, 2nd place – Salina Mireles, 3rd place – Margarito Palacios. In Lowrider: 1st place – Don Palmer, 2nd place – Ariel Garza, 3rd place – Rolando Ocegulda. In Truck: 1st place – Jimmy Deleon, 2nd place – Allen Moore, 3rd place – Herman Rodriguez. In Jeep: 1st place – Jaime Martinez, 2nd place – Jesse Espinoza, 3rd place – Amanda Ezpinoza. The People’s Choice award went to Jimmy Deleon who donated the $200 prize back to the police department toy drive.

Another $200 donation to the toy drive was also submitted by the Antique Auto Club of America. A drawing was also held for a cash prize and the winner followed suit with the giving spirit and also donated his $183 winnings as a donation as well. Michael Martinez took the Best in Show prize which was worth $500 donated by Aaron’s Brake and Alignment.
