LA FERIA – Lexi’s Closet, which is a program that allows community members to come into its facility and select new and slightly used clothing at no cost, is one of the many community engagement projects the La Feria ISD has put together this school year.

The program has received donations into its facility from the community and all over the Valley since its grand opening on Oct. 17. With the help of the community and students that put their time and effort to put the project together, it has become a great success.

Lexi’s Closet has also been involved in other projects like Lexi’s Christmas toy giveaway, Lexi’s blanket drive and, more recently, Lexi’s Prom Drive. The prom drive is being held to make sure every young lady is able to wear a prom dress without having the stress to be able to afford one.

More than 100 new and slightly used dresses were donated this year. On March 12, Lexi’s Closet held a prom dress event for junior and senior girls to come and try and choose a dress of their choice.

The girls were also entered into a raffle where Bombshell Hair Studio, located in La Feria, donated one hair and makeup makeover giveaway for prom night. Bombshell also raffled away one free haircut to a young gentleman for prom night.

Lexi’s Closet is located in the Lee Facility at 400 S. West Street in La Feria. For more information, contact Ida Prado at 956-535-3407.
