The city of La Feria is still making progress even though COVID-19 has forced many businesses to close down for now.
The construction of a new Dollar Tree here in town continues to progress as the foundation has already been laid down and the framework of the building has begun to be raised.
In 2019 the city council approved the request to rezone the piece of property along North Main street next to Church’s Chicken to make way for the new business. The lot, which belonged to Pizza Hut at one time, was rezoned from industrial to commercial.
In addition, the city may soon have a new business as another work in progress is the demolishing of an old building downtown. The old Masonic Lodge that was located at 111 N. Main Street is being torn down.
After contacting the city, it was stated that the location might pave way for another parking lot. However, a spokesperson with the city could not confirm this and said plans could change.
