The Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association recently released the roster for its 2020 All-Star senior football team, and several players from La Feria High School and surrounding area schools landed on the East Valley squad.
The Lions had 10 players make the list, including quarterback Dorian Hernandez, linebacker Erick Luna, linebacker Daniel Garza, defensive back Evan Avila, defensive lineman Guillermo Vargas, offensive lineman Jose Lugo, defensive lineman Andrew Rodriguez, offensive lineman Alex Yerenia, wide receiver Caleb Flores and defensive lineman Israel Rodriguez.
The 2019 Lions had a season to remember, going 4-0 in district play, 11-1 overall and two rounds deep in the playoffs with their only loss of the year coming against Liberty Hill in the area round of the postseason.
Meanwhile, Santa Maria Cougars linebacker Marcos Sandoval and QB/DL Nathaniel Rodriguez made the squad, along with Santa Rosa DL Adam Cavazos.
The Cougars were 7-3 last season and fell to Wiemar in the bi-district round of the playoffs, while the Warriors went 5-5 and missed out on the postseason with a 2-4 league mark.
