LA FERIA – The city of La Feria recently welcomed a new business into town as Dollar Tree officially opened its doors to the public on Aug. 13. The new store is located at 712 W. Main St.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on that morning while customers anxiously waited in line to enter. Cashiers and staff were prepared to greet customers as they walked in the door.
Mario Mier, a corporate manager for the franchise, said that he is glad the city representatives brought the franchise to La Feria and that the community needs affordable pricing, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Mary Bruno, a customer shopping at the store, said that she likes the good prices and that there’s a lot of good stuff to buy.
Other customers mentioned that they like that they finally have a Dollar Tree location in their hometown and that they don’t have to travel to other cities like Harlingen or Weslaco for basic needs.
The retail store was founded by J. Douglas Perry and Macon F. Brock Jr. in 1986, is headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, and has more than 15,000 stores across the United States and Canada.
According to its website, Dollar Tree Inc. is a Fortune 500 company and is a leading operator of discount variety stores that has served North America for more than 30 years, employing more than 193,000 associates.
